    Why Music is free therapy

Music is one of those things that bring people joy. Usually people listen to the song, and delve a little deeper into their moods. When you are happy, you listen to happy, fast beat songs. When you feel sad or miserable, there are thousands of popular sad songs that go with the theme in your mind. Break ups are manageable because of songs. Love becomes more festive and exciting when you listen to love songs that match the mood or characteristic of your current situation with your partner. So, it is no wonder that people listen to these kinds of songs, and a vast majority of people function as normal…

    Silencing dissent

What is it about certain high-class, educated people in India who silence the voices of people who hold different views than theirs? When it comes to politics, specific communities and sections of people feel uncomfortable discussing the truth and facing reality. This is the sad situation of older people who want to be politically correct at all times. With social media like twitter/X, politics has taken a different route. Trolls like to keep engagement active by making memes of every kind of situation. What is unhealthy is when people start attacking others in a personal way or commenting on one’s appearance or conditions beyond their control. However, censorship is not…

“Blissful Journey” – by Sri Laxmi

I touched you gently, ever so,Reminiscing our first encounter, oh,Caressed you softly, longing gaze,Dreams wove tales through endless days. Imagined all with fervent desire,You, strong, vibrant, set my heart on fire,Difficulties at the start, we’d find our way,With prayers, I touched you, night and day. Experimented, slowly, then with haste,Years it took to bind our fates,Learned your secrets, your every sign,What makes you happy, our joys entwined. Now within my veins, you freely flow,I in you, our love’s eternal glow,Together we create waves of delight,Blissful union, my Veena, through day and night. — Sri Laxmi —

    Baking and chemistry

Though we lived in the U.S. for over a decade, I never baked cookies or cakes, or pizza there. I was not fond of this kinda food also. But now, as a mom of a teen who loves bread, cakes, pastries, and pizzas, I have now learned to make every kind of pastry. I can say that I even enjoy the process of Baking. Baking is similar to chemistry in that you add the ingredients precisely and do exactly as per the lab manual, but at the end of the experiment, you and your family get to eat yummy stuff. So, like any good experimenter, I head into the kitchen…

Kerala Trip : An 8 day trip to God’s Own Country

This year we chose to escape to Kerala as the scalding hot Chennai became impossible to bear during summer. We planned to go to the beautiful Alappuzha district, which happens to be my husband’s ancestral place. The backwaters of Alappuzha are renowned for their breathtaking beauty. The natural beauty of Kerala can inspire poets to pen verses singing its praise. Day 1 : Alappuzha – Sterling lake palace resort We took the evening flight to Kochi, Kerala and reached Sterling Lake Palace Resort, a couple of hours away from Kochi Airport. It was around 11:30 PM when we reached the resort. We were escorted in a buggy to the reception.…

Benefits of reciting Srimad Bhagavat Mahapurana

After the complete recitation of Ramcharitmanas, I am reciting Srimad Bhagavat Mahapurana. You can have Darshan of my home deities here: Here are some of the benefits of reciting and hearing the Srimad Bhagavad. The Supreme Lord said: O Grandfather Brahma, one should regularly hear the famous Srimad Bhagavatam (SB) with faith. Know for certain that such hearing is the only means of satisfying Me.  One who daily reads SB will attain with every syllable the results of giving a brown cow in charity. One who daily reads or hears even a half or a quarter of a verse of SB attains the results of giving one thousand cows in…

    Free Your Love

“When the wave called love sweeps me back into you,Hold me tight and don’t let me go.” He said, “Two is a myth. There is no me without you”. A look so electric that burned her doubts, He touched her hand and melted her hardened heart. A tear fought to be freed, her lips pursed in pain the hidden love of a life time flowed freely like the rain. Sri Laxmi
